Jinu is the secondary antagonist in KPop Demon Hunters. He is the leader of Saja Boys, a group of demons serving under Gwi-Ma disguised as a KPop boy band in order to garner fans they plan to steal the souls of. Despite his intentions and rivalry with HUNTR/X, he ultimately forms a close bond with its leader Rumi. Appearance Jinu in his demon form has light purple-blue skin with demon markings, sharp claws, and fangs. He has yellow eyes with black, slit pupils. He wears the traditional Korean clothing. In his human form, Jinu has straight black hair, dark brown eyes and pale skin. He has a muscular build as well and pierced ears. In his backstory he is shown to be dirty and wearing a topknot. Personality Jinu is a charismatic yet duplicitous individual who prioritizes his own needs. Along with the other demons, he suggests a new strategy to put an end to the Honmoon once and for all, in exchange for Gwi-ma erasing his memories of his previous life as a human. He feels deep shame and remorse for his selfish actions in his human life, and wishes to forget his betrayal of his loved ones. Conversely, Jinu shows almost no guilt for the lives he destroys as a demon. However, his humanity still shines through on rare occasions, as when he takes mercy on Rumi and gently puts a bouquet given to him by a fan in the trash bin rather than throwing it away carelessly like his demon companions. Jinu is also manipulative in his interactions with Rumi, glossing over details that would portray him negatively when recounting how he became a demon. Furthermore, Jinu projects his experience with Gwi-ma onto Rumi and tries to impose his views on her by suggesting that Rumi's friends might not accept her demonic nature. Nevertheless, he ultimately cares about Rumi, as he stands up to Gwi-ma and sacrifices himself to help her win. Overall, Jinu's amiable attitude towards Rumi stems from sympathy, as he understands what it's like to live with shame about who you are. He is awkward and clumsy; for example, he becomes flustered when the old woman suggests that Rumi is his girlfriend, and denies that she is even his type, much to Rumi's disappointment. Jinu also has a soft spot for children and animals: he takes care of the tiger and the magpie and shows flickers of remorse when looking at a drawing given to him by a young fan. Whether or not he feels true companionship with the other Saja boys is debatable, given that he shows no guilt over betraying them and abandoning their plan. In fact, he doesn't even appear to talk to them in a casual setting. Powers and Abilities Soul stealing: Jinu's ability to control minds and steal souls is crucial to his role as a demon. Teleportation: Jinu was first seen using this after Soda Pop was performed in an open area. This was used to disappear from the scene with the rest of the Saja Boys. Super speed: Jinu is shown to be much faster than a regular human when he runs away from HUNTR/X. Super strength: Jinu is physically stronger than a regular human due to being a demon. Immortality: being a demon, Jinu is practically immortal and has been living for at least 400 years. However, he can still die by Gwi-ma. Levitation: Jinu demonstrates his ability to levitate in the demon world and during Your Idol.
